Vaporetto prices in 2026
Venice's public water buses (vaporetti) are run by ACTV, part of the AVM group. Fares are the same on every line within the lagoon network.
- Single ticket (75 minutes): €9.50
- 24-hour pass: €25
- 48-hour pass: €35
- 72-hour pass: €45
- 7-day pass: €65
- Rolling Venice card (ages 6 to 29): €6, which unlocks a discounted 72-hour pass at €27
Where to buy and validate
Buy at the Venezia Unica ticket offices, at machines at major stops, at authorised shops, via WhatsApp (Chat&Go) or in the AVM Venezia app. Validate your ticket at the validators at the stops before boarding, and again at each change of vehicle. Riding without a valid ticket means paying the ordinary fare plus a fine. Children up to 6 travel free.
ACTV tickets are not valid on lines 16 and 19 or on Alilaguna airport boats, which have their own fares.
Which lines matter for visitors
- Line 1: the slow Grand Canal route, Piazzale Roma to San Marco and the Lido, calling at every stop. The best-value sightseeing ride.
- Line 2: faster, fewer stops, from San Marco via Giudecca to Tronchetto and Piazzale Roma.
- Lines 4.1 / 4.2: circular lines from Murano via Fondamente Nove, the train station, Piazzale Roma and Giudecca, running in opposite directions.
- Line 12: Fondamente Nove to Murano, Mazzorbo and Burano (Torcello only on request).
- Alilaguna Blue, Orange (and summer Red): airport boats, separate company and ticket.
Single ticket or pass?
At €9.50 a single ride is expensive, so a 24-hour pass at €25 beats single tickets from about three rides. If you only plan to walk and make one Grand Canal trip, a single ticket is enough.
Remember that the shortest hop across the Grand Canal on a traghetto gondola costs only €2 (€0.70 for residents).
Tips
Ride Line 1 early or late to avoid crowds, and stand at the front or sit on the open rear for the best views. Large luggage may carry a supplement or limits on some lines, so check ACTV's rules for your boat.
Prices change: confirm in the AVM Venezia app or on actv.avmspa.it before you buy.
Rather book ahead?
Shared gondola tickets sell by the seat online, usually around €30–40 per person.
